Free basketball mindset assessment · Players + Coach

Every close game is decided by 15 mindsets. Measure yours.

Two assessments, one team. Players take the 75-question Basketball Mindset Assessment from a link their coach sends. The coach takes a 25-question assessment of their own. Everyone gets an analysis of their strengths and gaps, and the coach sees how the whole roster lines up before the first tip.

Players need a team code from their coach. About 10 minutes on a phone. No app download, no account.

How it connects

1

Coach registers the team

School, program, roster size. Gets a team code like HAWKS-GBB and a share link.

2

Players join with the code

Name, number, grade. 75 questions in basketball language. Instant personal Mindset Signature.

3

Coach takes theirs, sees the whole picture

25 questions. The dashboard shows the team on all 15 mindsets, the coach on 4 skills, and where they line up.

Why mindsets

Skill gets you on the floor. Mindset decides what happens on it.

Every coach has watched a team shoot 45% in practice and 30% in a close game. The hands didn't change. What changed was focus under noise, composure after a bad whistle, the willingness to want the next shot after missing three. Those aren't personality traits. They're mindsets, and mindsets are trainable the same way a jump shot is.

Our athletic division has spent 18 months measuring 15 performance mindsets across annual or repeat schools. They fall into three groups: the baseline mindsets that determine whether a player shows up ready, the growth mindsets that determine how fast they improve, and the advanced strength mindsets that show up in the fourth quarter. Here is what each one looks like in a basketball game.

01

Baseline Basketball Mindset

Shows up before the ball is tipped.

Discipline

The extra defensive slide and the free throws before you leave the gym. Discipline is the mindset that shows up at 6 a.m. open gym.

"How often do you set specific rules for yourself, makes before practice, no phone in the locker room?"

Resilience

Shooters who miss four and still want the fifth. Resilience is the gap between a bad quarter and a bad game.

"How well do you bounce back after a bad shooting night or a turnover-filled game?"

Teamwork

The extra pass, the talk on defense, the bench that stands up. Teamwork decides whether five players or one show up.

"How effectively do you communicate with teammates on defense, in transition, and in huddles?"

Focus

Hearing the play call with the gym roaring. Focus is what keeps the last bad call from becoming the next turnover.

"How well do you keep your concentration in late-game, one-possession situations?"

Ambition

Wanting the ball in a one-possession game. Ambition is the difference between hoping to play and planning to.

"How often do you seek out tougher competition, better leagues, open gyms, higher-level camps?"

02

Growth Mindset for Basketball Players

Decides how fast a player gets better between November and March.

Adaptability

They switch to zone, your best scorer picks up a third foul, the ref lets them play physical. Adaptability is playing the game you're in.

"How effectively do you change your approach when an opponent takes away what you do best?"

Curiosity

Watching film to learn why the play broke down. Curious players ask coaches what to work on and actually work on it.

"How effectively do you study great players to learn how they move, read the floor, and finish?"

Reflection

Owning what you did on the car ride home. Reflection turns a bad game into a better practice.

"How often do you watch film or replay a game in your head to find what you'd do differently?"

Challenge Mastery

Wanting the matchup against their best player. Challenge Mastery is the player who asks for the hard assignment.

"How effectively do you stay composed when you're asked to guard their best player or take the last shot?"

Self-Development

Working the weak hand all offseason. Self-Development is the reason some sophomores are seniors by January.

"How effectively do you set small, measurable goals, makes per session, free-throw percentage, to track progress?"

03

Advanced Basketball Mental Strength

The fourth-quarter mindsets. Where close games are won and lost.

Grit

The fourth practice of a brutal week. The last sprint. Grit is effort that doesn't depend on the score.

"How well do you keep going in practice and games when you're tired, sore, or frustrated?"

Perseverance

Earning minutes back from the bench role you didn't want. Perseverance is a long-season mindset.

"How well do you keep working toward your goals despite limited minutes or a coach's tough decisions?"

Mental Fortitude

Free throws to win it in a hostile road gym. Mental Fortitude blocks out the crowd, the other bench, and your own doubt.

"How effectively do you block out negativity, the crowd, the other bench, your own doubt, and stay confident?"

Emotional Stamina

Composure for 32 minutes and overtime. Emotional Stamina is what keeps a 10-0 run from becoming a 20-0 run.

"How effectively do you keep your composure after a bad call, a hard foul, or a run by the other team?"

Tenacity

Diving for the loose ball up twenty. Tenacity uses last season's cut, benching, or loss as fuel.

"How effectively do you handle criticism from coaches and use it to improve?"
